M. Shahadat Hossain began his hospitality Industry career in 1991 as the Public Relations Manager of Sonargaon Pan Pacific Hotel and later promoted to Director Public Relations. In 1992 Pan Pacific sponsored his Executive training in Marketing at the School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. For his PDP.
In 1994 he moved on to privatize Eaglebox Carton and Manufacturing company with the responsibility of Director Sales, Marketing and Production. He was also on the Board of Directors. The previously state owned industry was the largest and pioneer in printing and packaging in the country with over 450 employees. Shahadat successfully expanded the packaging unit and increased sales by 100%. Was able to negotiate long term contracts with suppliers and corporate clients.
Later in 1997 he joined Best Eastern as the Director of Marketing (Shareholder). Located in Baridhara, Best Eastern was the first ever full serviced apartment and Guest house in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was instrumental in marketing the establishment and gaining business from the diplomatic missions, oil companies and the corporate sector.
In 2000 M. Shahadat Hossain moved to Canada and has taught marketing in Canada and the United States for over 14 years both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has taught at Sprott School of Business, Carleton University, Ottawa from 2001 to 2006. He then went on to teach at the State University of New York, Potsdam till 2015. During this period he has also taught at Clarkson University, NY as an Adjunct Professor.
He returned to Bangladesh in 2016 and has been working as a marketing consultant in the hospitality industry and is currently the Managing Director and CEO of Astute Horse Business and Marketing Solutions and the Managing Director of Astute Hospitality Management Company Ltd.
M. Shahadat Hossain is a member of the American Marketing Association and is the Director Marketing and Communication of PATA Bangladesh Chapter.
He was a broadcaster with External Services of Radio Bangladesh in the late 80s and has worked with a number of print media as a journalist during the same time.
